SeaDream Yacht Club is the joint creation of Norwegian industrialist Atle Brynestad and cruise industry executive Larry Pimentel who was president of Cunard Lines prior to the creation of the line. Launched in September 2001, industry insiders were not optimistic about the future of SeaDream, its "yachting" concept conflicting strongly with the megaship phenomenon of the time, and the line's launch coming at the worst travel time in history.
Fast forward nearly a decade, and we find those industry insiders proven wrong. SeaDream is not only very much afloat, but riding a tidal wave of honors and awards including those of Travel & Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler, and Berlitz.
SeaDream Yacht Club, often called "the little cruise line that could" has become "the little cruise line that did," thriving in both cruise vacation bookings as well as full charters.
In January 2009, Larry Pimentel surprised the industry, resigning from the line he co-created. Bob Lepisto, an original member of the SeaDream team and, most recently, Senior Vice President/Sales and Marketing has replaced Pimentel as President while Brynestad remains at the helm as CEO.
